When he says our imagination plays us falses is a really interesting quote because most authors want us to use our imaginations to the fullest but nor this author. what I understand from this quote is that we can use imagination to come up with ideas for other benefits but not for ourselves, in other words, we should use it for good and not for bad. He also says that man is timid and apologetic and is no longer upright, what does this mean exactly well what I see it as is that were to afraid to be different and speak out on our own ideas, but why are we afraid of being judged are we afraid that we would be isolated from society from being different. we shouldn't be because  the people that were less accept were the best

Emerson was a bright author with an inspiration to be different from the rest of his ideas were so complex to understand at the time, but now that we look back at them he seemed like came to the future to tell/see everything that had happened and then went back to tell everyone what had happened in the future. What I also noticed about what we read about today was that he wanted to express our own ideas and to speak out about them because maybe someone had the same ideas as yourself but were too afraid to express themselves but now that you did they will

When it says  Men do what is called a good action, as some piece of courage or charity, much as they would pay a fine in expiation of daily non-appearance on parade.   What I think that it's trying to say is that people just do good deads for the attention and to seem like a hero like when they donate to charity but the reality is that people want to be a hero but they don't do it out of the kindness of their hearts. . Do your work, and you shall reinforce yourself. A man must consider what a blindman's-buff is this game of conformity.  When it says to do your work and to reinforce yourself it's trying to say is that if you do your work with the upfront most effort and if you do it on time when your all done with it your stress-free and you feel good about it because  you know you did everything you could and you build your self-confidence{.

"Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string."  This quote was really interesting to me it has a lot of meaning but the meaning that captured my attention was that it's trying to say that you should trust yourself and follow your own ideas don't follow other people just to follow, Follow them because they share the same unique ideas that you have and support .

"Our acts our angels are, or good or ill" Means we can trust more on people's actions than on their word.   Not going along with the crowd he did something different that sparks another mentality in us. "To Believe your own thought to believe in what's true to you in your private heart is true to men" My first impressions of Self-reliance is its talking about how we can all be anything we want in life no matter what we want to be, but we can't just say that we want to do it we have to take our own ideas and act onto them because who knows maybe what your thinking can seriously change someone's life in a positive and life-changing way. and could spark their brains to start thinking on their own.
